Spouse open work permit

A Spouse Open Work Permit is a document issued by the Canadian government that allows the spouse or common-law partner of a temporary foreign worker or international masters student to work in Canada for any employer, without the need for a separate job offer or Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
To be eligible for a Spouse Open Work Permit, the applicant’s spouse or common-law partner must hold a valid study permit in a masters program or work permit for Canada. The applicant must also submit a separate application for the Spouse Open Work Permit, along with supporting documentation such as proof of the relationship and proof of the spouse or partner’s valid permit.
The Spouse Open Work Permit is typically issued for the same duration as the spouse or partner’s study or work permit. This means that the applicant can work in Canada for any employer, in any occupation, for the same period of time as their spouse or partner.
The Spouse Open Work Permit program is designed to help support families and encourage them to stay together while one spouse or partner is working or studying in Canada.
